Trekking is an adventure for those who admire the nature's enigma.Kodachadri hills is one such place inhabited by tall plants, healthy air, beautiful birds, fantastic fauna, and streaming waterfalls minus the modern pollution.
A place to enjoy nature's beauty at its best with Hidlumane cascaded falls, Arshinigundi falls, Panoramic mountains, golden sunset and sunrise amidst the view of Arabian sea.
After ground research and rounds of enquiries,we decided to take a guide and trek up through the route with Hidlumane Falls ( a cascade of 7 waterfalls) and get down by jeep. The onward journey time is approx 5Hrs. One extremely useful thing i had read was "When you are lost in a place or wanted to reach the source of water - Follow the streams".
Cautions were challenges fancied by all. So,except my grandmother and grandfather all were set to walk across and atop to the hills. Jeep took us to a point (a house with shops) from where we stepped down to follow the stream. As we did so, we reached the first of the cascades. From here its all about climbing the falls and steep paths holding the strong roots and branches of the evergreen forest. The path to the waterfalls was well camouflaged by the shades of trees.
We weren't struck by tiredness, though it was quite a tricky route to climb. My mother @ 50yrs, was at her best and to every one's surprise lead the trek sometimes along with, and sometimes ahead of the guide.
"An adventure is never an adventure when it's happening".The whole place had engulfed us with its mystic and tranquil milieu. When we reached the top most falls, sounds of the water reverberated our ears and its pure whiteness took us to a world of fairyland driving us mad. We played and played, and bathed in the water for some time and started afresh to continue through the forest. After little walks and climbs, our body demanded for the much wanted energy. The small amount of water we carried was all over by the time, it was then, the "Glucose" came to our help.
Forests are done; from thereon, it was all open mountain with no shades, slippery, muddy, some narrow risky paths. Thirsty throats and some aching legs manged to climb as from a certain point onwards there is no turning back. That is the place that must be reached and we kept moving ahead. When we stopped to turn back, the view was just unexplainable, the vast panorama was simply breath taking. We took few snaps there and crossed another mountain, climbed another to reach a muddy road. No one was ready to walk furthur on the muddy road and so we called our jeep and went to the PWD guest house where we had our meals.
Overnight stay was the initial plan but we cancelled it as we had to leave early. So, just to satisfy our enthralling hearts, we stayed at the campsite for some time in the evening and descended in the jeep.
At the end of all our exploring we arrived where we started to know the place for the first time.
